LEARN ENGLISH WITH PODCASTS

One of the easiest ways how you can surround yourself with English is to listen to podcasts. You don’t have to travel thousands of kilometres to practice English with native speakers. Popularity of podcasts is increasing and many of them are available for free e.g. on Spotify.

I’m bringing you a list of 8 podcasts which have great contents.

1)     THE ENGLISH WE SPEAK by BBC Learning English:

2)     6 MINUTE ENGLISH by BBC Learning English:

3)     ALL EARS ENGLISH Podcast by Lindsay McMahon & Michelle Kaplan:

  • Available on Spotify

  • Focus on real-world & Business English

4)     LUKE'S ENGLISH Podcast by Luke Thompson

5)     CULIPS ESL Podcast

6)     BUSINESS ENGLISH POD

7)     THE FLUENT SHOW by Kerstin Cable

8)     THE DAILY by The New York Times

  • On spotify

  • High-quality journalism

  • For advanced learners

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT PODCAST?

1)     Think about your level. If you understand neither a single word, nor the key message,

look for something easier.

2)     Choose topics you like. Listen to subjects you find interesting.

3)     Right length. If you can’t or aren’t  interested in listening to something long, don’t. Find

the optimal length for you.

EFFECTIVE LEARNING

Active Listening: Take notes and look up unfamiliar words.

Repetition: Listen to episodes multiple times to reinforce learning.

Transcripts: Use available transcripts to follow along and improve reading skills.

Shadowing: Practice speaking by mimicking the podcast host.

Discussion: Join online forums or study groups to discuss episodes and share insights. Discuss what you heard in your lessons with a teacher.
